Enrollment Lower than Projected in Redding District

As of Oct. 1, there were 1,265 students enrolled in the Redding school district, 16 fewer than projected. But while overall enrollment was lower, kindergarten enrollment was actually higher than projected.
The Redding Board of Education received an updated enrollment projection report at its last meeting, completed by Dr. Peter Prowda,an enrollment expert hired by the tri-district — Redding, Easton and Region 9 (Joel Barlow High School).
Following state and nationwide trends, enrollment in the Redding school district is projected to decline significantly over the next 10years, but variables such as the current economic conditions may complicate long-term predictions.
